Cinimod Studio have developed a new active user tracking system suitable for large events and parties. This was first deployed at the Restaurant and Bar Design Awards 2010 event in June 2010, where Cinimod linked their tracking system to an interactive video projection display.

At this awards event, RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology was used to identify visitors on the two ‘networking pods’ during the evening’s proceedings. The tags use radio signals to send their identity to antenna receivers. Projections then highlight guests’ key professional characteristics.

The interactive projections displayed the projects of nearby shortlisted visitors. As they moved closer to the centre of the ‘pod’, their name rose higher on the list. Once a visitor was determined to be closest to the centre of the pod their project details and credentials appeared on the panoramic projection screens.

The Awards were the first event that combined this technology to create a uniquely ‘connected’ environment. The underlying system is a continuing work-in-progress that Cinimod seek to further develop for future art installations and events. The tracking badges themselves already incorporate accelerometer sensors which can be used to gain further interesting insight into the user’s behaviour.

Cinimod Studio collaborated with Audialsense to create a unique interactive sound to complement the visual projections. With a series of loudspeakers located around the site, special antenna receivers identified the eventual winners as they moved through the space. These ‘special’ guests then ‘distorted’ the background beats to give everyone else at the awards event audio clues as to the winners’ identities – even before they themselves knew who had won.

This RFID projection system represents the second time that Cinimod Studio has created a unique interactive system for the Restaurant And Bar Design Awards – the first was the striking Exploded Globe over Hoxton Square in 2008.

Globe Chandelier

Cinimod Studio’s “Globe Chandelier” is a scalable lighting artwork designed as a feature chandelier for residential purposes. It features clusters of individually controllable glass spheres each capable of millions of colours. The chandeliers are made to order, and can be of any size and height. Cinimod offer a variety of control options, including web-enabled colour controllers, thermal-imaging cameras that respond to the movement of people, and flush architectural lighting control panels.

Each globe pendant is made of a smooth glass finish similar to the frosted opal glass from Murano, Italy. The internal light sources are high-performance energy efficient LEDs from CREE. All electronics are designed by Cinimod Studio, and manufactured bespoke for the application.

CS LED Brick Light

Cinimod Studio is pleased to announce the launch of their new LED table centerpiece lights. These were created specifically for the live events market, and were first used at the FX International Interiors Design Awards held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London.

One of Cinimod’s LED “bricks” was placed on each table, and contained the bespoke electronics, wireless DMX receiver, battery pack, 8 bright full-colour LEDs and a diffusing glass lens. The integral battery pack supplies approximately 12 hours of light at full power. Each light pack has a unique control address so that colour effects can be “played” across entire room of tables.

The above short video clip demonstrates the impressive lighting effects that can be easily created and controlled in real-time via either our own software solution running off a laptop, or by direct patching into a DMX lighting control desk.

White LED Chinese Lantern Wedding Chandelier

With an increasing number of event venues not allowing the use of candles, we have seized on the opportunity to create our own unique lighting centrepiece. These LED Chinese table lantern chandeliers were designed to create an intriguing and elegant clustered lighting installation that gently sways with the air currents within the room. Their soft light and long-life battery power is ideal for events and large seated dinners.

From each weighted base there are 7 lantern stems, each with their own battery-powered LED white paper lantern. Elegant flower arrangements can be created using the test tubes magnetically fixed to the stems.
