In the countdown to the 2015 General Election, Facebook presented their election data onto the Coca-Cola London Eye in a luminous pie chart design.
London, UK – 2015
Location: Coca-Cola London Eye, London
Creative Agency: Bompas & Parr
Programming: Cinimod Studio
At 9:30pm each night, a kaleidoscopic light show, produced by Bompas & Parr and programmed by Cinimod Studio, illuminated the Coca-Cola London Eye. Individual colours represented each political party’s level of discussion from the 52 million interactions observed online. The greater the conversation about a particular party, the more it overtook London’s iconic landmark, thus building a physical manifestation between social and political discussion.
The various light shows over consecutive evenings were as follows:
Friday 1 May: The main political parties discussed on Facebook
Saturday 2 May: The main political parties discussed on Facebook by men
Sunday 3 May: The main political parties discuss on Facebook by women
Monday 4 May: The top five election-related issues discussed on Facebook
Tuesday 5 May: The main political parties discussed on Facebook in Scotland
Wednesday 6 May: The main political leaders discussed on Facebook
Thursday 7 May: Pre-election polls
